Your first stop is Bay View Farm, a working coffee plantation nestled on the slopes of Mauna Loa, just above Kealakekua Bay. Learn about the full process of crafting world-famous Kona coffee, and enjoy a tasting with sweeping views of the bay and the Captain Cook Monument — the only piece of British territory in the United States.

Travel south through the scenic South Kona and Kaʻū districts, passing dramatic lava fields and rare Hawaiian dry forests. Stop briefly at the famous Punaluʻu Bake Shop for Hawaiian sweetbreads and pastries, then visit Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach, where Hawaiian green sea turtles often bask or swim in the surf. Continue into Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park to explore the Kīlauea Visitor Center, Volcano Art Center, Nāhuku (Thurston Lava Tube), Kīlauea Iki overlook, Mauna Ulu, and more. End the evening at the historic Volcano House—offering panoramic crater views, a gift shop, and, if conditions allow, a glimpse of glowing lava.
