What is included with the Whale Song Snorkel upgrade?

The optional Whale Song Snorkel Package adds time in the water so guests can listen for humpback whale songs while snorkeling. A snorkel set, fins and an optional life jacket are included with the upgrade.

What happens if whale activity is limited during the tour?

Humpback whales are wild animals, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. During the early and late parts of the season, when whale activity may be less consistent, the crew may also explore waterfalls along the coast to add more scenery to the excursion.

Should guests expect to get wet on the Royal Humpback Whale Experience?

Yes. The boat travels outside the protected waters of Hilo Bay, where wind, ocean spray and natural boat movement are part of the experience. Light rain is also common in Hilo, so guests should dress for changing marine conditions and expect some exposure to water.

Minimum Age: 8 years
Guests should be comfortable on a boat and prepared for ocean conditions. Light rain is common in Hilo and part of the adventure!
Whales are wild animals and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Although whales may be seen anytime from December–April, February typically offers the most consistent sightings. During the early and late season we also visit waterfalls up the coast in case whale sightings are low.
Special Notes
This is an ocean adventure outside the protection of the bay. Expect wind, ocean spray, and natural boat movement - you will likely get wet!
