Is the Private Big Island Experience shared with other passengers?

No. This is a private charter for your group only, with options for three or four passengers. The private format gives your party a more personalized flight and allows the pilot to adapt the route to weather conditions and the sights that are most important to you.

Can this helicopter tour be flown with the doors off?

Yes. The standard flight operates with the doors on, but a doors-off upgrade may be added for an extra fee. Passengers must be at least 12 years old for the doors-off option, and all loose items must remain securely attached during the flight.

What happens if clouds block the volcanoes during the flight?

Cloud cover can affect views around Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Kilauea, so the pilot may adjust the route in real time. Alternate scenery can include the Hamakua Coast, Kohala's remote valleys, waterfalls, sea cliffs and historic coastal areas, allowing the flight to focus on the best available conditions that day.

12 years and older can fly with the doors off.
All minors under 18 years old must be accompanied by and adult.
Weight restrictions: 285 lbs (129 kg) per person and group total cannot exceed 700 lbs (317 kg). Weights are taken at check-in. If weight exceeds limits, a $200 refueling fee will apply.
For doors off flights: No loose items on the flight. All items must be secured to you at all times.
Cancellations or delays to the flight are at the pilot's discretion for safety reasons. If the pilot cancels the flight prior to take off, rescheduling will take place or full refunds will be issued.
